    Tell me about cucumbers?
I know, you won't find may posts by me in the beauty section, but, here goes.

My wife, having seen some local commercials for a day spa, is thinking that she might want to go to one for her first ever beauty treatment. (She really doesn't need an beauty treatment in my opinion!)

Anyway, she asked me when she saw the commercial last night "what is the purpose of putting cucumber slices over your eyes"?

It is unusual that I can't answer a question from her, but this one left me clueless.

So, what is the benefit of cucumber slices placed over your eyes?

Skin care myths: cucumbers on eyes; skin cells and skin repair during sleep
    Skin Care Myth:
Cucumber contains a special ingredient that helps to reduce swelling around the eye or bags under the eyes.

Fact: More than 90% of the cucumber consists of water. It is the cooling effect of the water in the cucumbers on eyes, together with increased humidity, that reduces the swelling. Some products contain extracts of cucumber, which in high concentration may help to improve the hydration of the skin. Gentle massage also helps.

Cucumbers used to whiten under the eyes, and reduce puffiness.

Cold teabags were also used for the same reason and to relax the eyes.

Then there was a honey face pack... healing properties

Followed by a sugar facial scrubb... gets rid of dead skin

    To name but a few...
