    Search engine optimization
As a business person, how do I get a good education on SEO and my options for driving traffic to my web site? Are there any good reports. Books or experts on this topic? And who are the major vendors like Google and Yahoo!

    Thanks!

This is something I have recently begun looking into myself. The major vendors are Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask and AOL.

Search engines update their rankings approximately every 2 weeks. They do this by gathering newly posted information. Therefore, one thing you can do is add a blog to your website. I have just started using Word Press. I enter a paragraph or 2 every couple days. I incorporate as many key words (words that people would "google" to find my business) into each entry. I am seeing some success from this. My website is slowly but steadily moving up in rank.

I am interested to hear other ideas...

I'm a search engine optimization specialist. The 3 major SE's (search engines) are Google (70% market share) Yahoo and MSN. You could spend hours and days and months learning SEO - its always changing and I'm constantly learning.

SEO is about having a lot of relevant content and being popular. To be seen as 'popular' by the search engines, means that other sites link to yours. Not just any sites - but related, relevant sites that Google also thinks are popular.

Well, reading books and all won't help you go far in seo. Seo is a big field covering white grey and black hat.
You won't find any info on black hat. Though you can find info about others.
Find a expert (:-)) for black hat, if you really waana know what black hat is or what seo can be.
