I had some blood work done about 6 or 7 weeks ago. I had quite a surprise when my Dr. told me I had a beta of 11. He considered that to be "undetermined". So a week later I had another blood test done and all he said was that it was negative, but didn't tell me the number. Is it possible I could be pregnant and it was just super early? Or that he didn't request a qualitative and quantative (sp?) blood test? I feel bloated and the other day I looked at myself and thought for sure I looked pregnant (big tummy... ). Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I am considered infertile, so getting a beta of 11 was a big deal to begin with!

You can have some trace amounts that may show up... this is why a pregnancy is not determined until a result of over 5 comes back... (the quantitative gives you a number, the qualitative gives you a positive or negative result). Maybe it was due to some sort of hormonal issue? Are you trying to change your fertility with the help of hormone injections? While unusual, it has been known to happen that someone who was previously thought to be infertile becomes pregnant, even years later. You may want to ask about having one more test done to be sure and you can always ask why you may have had the level that you did... perhaps no real explanation can be given, other than a fluke, but it doesn't hurt to ask!
