    violation of privacy act
I was a defendant in a small claims suit. The plaintiff was suing myself and our daughter for an unpaid loan that she had signed a contract with him when she was 19. He produced a letter from a used car dealer that stated that I had sold them a car and the amount that I received. Does this violate the privacy act? If so what are my options?

What privacy act? Unless you signed some sort of confidentiality agreement with the dealer, the paperwork is his to do as he pleases.

The paperwork produced in court was used as an exhibit. This does not in any way violate anything. It was used to show the judge the circumstances of the case at bar.

    Hello warned:

THE Privacy Act doesn't protect YOUR privacy anyway. It protects the company who has you sign it when you do business with them.
