I really would like to lose about fifty pounds.
Hello, I've struggled with my weight all my life and right now I weigh about 206 pounds and I'm sixteen years old. I'm almost six feet tall though, so I'm thinking I want to weigh about... 160? Is that appropriate? Does anyone have any tips that could help me lose the weight in a healthy way? How long would it take to lose those 46 pounds? And also, I have a problem because my family isn't interested in losing weight or eating healthy. They won't go out and buy me the health food that I want. What are some foods that are normally kept around the house that will help me? Thank you!

Well, typically, you can lose about 1 - 2 lbs a week safely. I've lost about 30 lbs in roughly 5 months or so... by eating relatively properly and exercising regularly.

Roughly outlines what I've been doing... granted, with my schedule... I sometimes have to go out to eat or I miss a workout or two... but it's what I try to achieve everyday.

Start slowly. Cut out the junk food, the soda, chips, etc. Slowly start exercising... walking... jogging... lifting weights, etc. And slowly but surely, you'll get there.

    Excellent answer above!

A long time ago, I lost over 20 pounds in about a month and a half. I looked good, but I did not feel good, though. I lost the weight way too fast!

And, then another time, I went from about 250 pounds to my high school weight of 183 pounds. It took me a year and a half to do it, though. I did it by riding my bicycle a lot, going for walks and trying, for the most part, not to eat anything that contained over four grams of fat in a serving. The kind of food that I ate was a lot of Chinese-type dishes that had rice with or without lean meats and also vegetables of many different kinds.

If you make the effort to be physically active and not eat foods that have a lot of fats in them you most likely be successful at accomplishing your goal.

I do wish you well in your efforts! :)
