I am active duty military and we are always told that we are protected by HIPAA. The other day I found out my medical provider told a joke about me to other medical staff regarding one of my diagnosed medical conditions. Is this considered a HIPAA violation?

It most definitely is, but do you have any actual proof this happened, or is it someone trying to make trouble ?

I need information on retreiving a lawyer for a HIPAA Violation in the Atlanta GA area...

Please Contact Health and Human Services in your local area. Or you can also contact the one in Washington DC and they will refer you to the one in your area. They will do an investigation on the matter. Good Luck...

The staff member that advised me of the incident is soft spoken and is well respected. They simply found the incident unprofessional and wanted me to know.
