Drug test coming up and I'm a little worried
I just got probation for a recent DUI charge and they told me I had to take a drug test. Well I'm kind of worried that I may fail for pot and I don't know what will happen to me if I do. Thing is I quit smoking almost 3 months ago and since then I haven't even seen the stuff (seriously). Normally I wouldn't be worried but I'm kind of a bigger guy, about 5'11'' 200 lbs, but not fat though, a lot of it is muscle. I lift 5-6 days a week and do cardio 3-4 days/week. I also only drink water and juice (no pop or anything and obviously no alcohol lol). Anyway I'm still kind of worried what will happen to me if I fail? I quit smoking before I got the DUI too, not that it would matter, but I'd say its been about a good 75-85 days. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

The half-life of THC is somewhere between 1 and 10 days. At about 5x the half-life, which would be 50 days it should be essentially gone. Your higher than that.

I'm not sure if they did an analyis of your hair if it would make any difference.

EDIT: Hair test - Can be detected up to 3 years.

Hair test can be 36 months, give or take -

But your question was what will happen if you fail - you could be revoked, you could be warned.

I was a probation officer in Maryland for 7 years and can tell you that in order to violate probation, there has to be a way to prove that you used a prohibited substance while on probation.

As was pointed out above, Marijuana stays in your system for quite awhile and you stated that you were just placed on probation. Therefore, it is not possible to prove that you used the drug while on probation.

Having said all that however, a positive drug test of any kind might be grounds to cause the probation officer to request that the judge add drug treatment as a condition of probation, if it is not already.

    Hello H:

I was on probation for over 7 years, and I can tell you that in order to violate probation, there has to be a way to prove that you possessed the prohibited substance while on probation.

Having it in your system, IS possessing it.

I'd like to agree with Jim Gunther, but I have never been faced with such a reasonable probation officer - NEVER.

Umm I just got back from my po and he did a saliva test. I'm not exactly sure how long saliva tests trace back, but I did a search and it said that saliva tests are used to trace recent drug use? I'm not a 100% sure, I suppose it may make sense since I was just recently placed on probation so he wanted to check if I did any drugs after my charge. Like I said I don't know for sure. What do you guys think?
