Pto clutch wires cut, fuse blown, engine still doesn't turn over
I have a troy-bilt 14 hp ltx lawn tractor. While turning off the pto switch, noise followed, then mower shut off... discovered the black/white wire to pto clutch was severed and the plug pulled out... the 30 amp fuse was also blown at the ignition switch.. I spliced the wires and plugged back in the clutch. Replaced the fuse... turn the key and nothing at all. No lights or anything... even if the clutch shorted out, wouldn't the engine still turn over? I don't know where to start on the repair... the clutch is like 300. At a dealer, seen some on eBay for 137.. don't even know if the clutch is bad though... any steps to follow to trouble shoot this mess? I would like to fix myself if possible... would be greatly appreciated thanks

Verify you have power to and out of fuse. Would think clutch is still good?
    Look for a Main fuse.

Thanks, I am planning on going over it again tomorrow, another question, I don't understand the purpose of the clutch reatainer.. there are to places on the clutch that it lines up to. Just how is this used and what should its position be? Thanks
