1991 civic d16a6 idle issues
I recently put back my civic engine. It had some new internals put in. ever since I put it back the idle doesn't stay level anymore.
Symptoms:
When I start it up, it idles fine.
After I warms up and I press the gas a little to rev it up, it will drop and stall out. If I ease the gas down, sometimes I can keep it from stalling out.
Right before I took it apart it was idleing fine.
I can't imagine a part has gone bad just by sitting there waiting for my engine to be installed again.
Well anyway I looked for any signs of leaking, nothing.
Sprayed brake cleaner around all the connections and didn't see any changes to the engine.
I took out the aicv and cleaned it, nothing
I replaced the aicv gasket, nothing.
Tested it by putting a 12v on the plugs, the actuator moved the plunger, so it is working.
Got new throttle body gasket, nothing.
Cleaned the fitv and put in a new gasket, nohting.
Got a new tps sensor and calibrated it to .45 volts closed and 4.5 at open , nothing.
Got a new pcv valve, it help a little bit more with the bouncing of the rpm.
Originally I thought it was a leak I can't find but I think a leak makes he rpm go higher. Mine stays pretty low but it stalls out.
I can't figure out what's causing it.
A few things I observed.
If I come to a red light and ease the rpm down slowly, it won't stall out.
It does bounce once in a while before the stalls but for the most part it just stalls when I get it in neutral with no more gas.
It will stay at a very nice low rpm if I get it to stay stable. It won't abruptly stall out at all.
NO cel light comes on. No dash warning light is on.
Some said that my alternator should be at 14v when I am driving. I never see 14v. I normally see between 12.4-13.4volts.
Things I think it could be but I am no mechanic.
My map sensor is bad.
My distributor is going bad.
There is a leak somewhere?
The aicv is actually bad even though I tested it out.
I didn't install something correctly when I reinstalled the engine.
Alternator is going bad.
