My phone jack has a gooey clear substance inside so my phone line from my computer
Is not getting a connection, what is it and how can I fix it. I can not connect to the internet.

The gooey stuff is supposed to be there, try a dsl filter, plug phone into phone outlet, if it works you are making a connection.
The only problem with the gooey syuff is it can hold debris and keep from making a good connection. Look closely.

What you are seeing is a jelly used to protect the connection where the contacts are punched through the wires. It is supposed to be there so do not remove it, please.

Call the phone company and have them verify that the connection is okay.

Also, if you happened to put one of the DSL filters on the phone line with your modem, remove it.
