    Blown Head Gasket
I need information on a Blown Head Gasket. My 2002 Ford Mustang has been running hot for almost a year (beginning last summer and usually only in the summer). We have replaced the thermostat 2x and it will work for a few months then start running hot again. It is now running hot and I took it to a radiator shop. They said they they are worried that I may have a blown head gasket. They came to this conclusion because of a test they performed. They took the cap off the radiator ask me to start the car and then poured water (or something) in while it was running. The water starting pushing out and that is when he said he was worried it my be a head gasket. Can someone post what they of the diagnosis and also what the price to fix the gasket would be. Thanks!

Is there any sign of water (antifreeze) in your oil?

No, not that anyone has mention. When I was there the machanic never looked at the oil... only the hoses and the he did the test that I referred to earlier.

Usually, (but not always) when the head gasket is blown, it will allow cooling fluid into the oil, making the oil milky.

I really think you need to consult a good mechanic on this one. Replacing the head gasket is not a major job, but a good mechanic will look a bit deeper; ie; why did it blow in the first place? Is the head warped? etc.

They can also pressure test the cooling system. Also, you could look for bubbles in the rad top with cap open or even in your overflow tank.
