How do you adhere closet flange to floor
    Hello,

I had a wobbly toilet so I went about removing the toilet off the closet flange. When I removed the toilet, the wax, I noticed the following:

1: the closet flange was a little curved (probably from the wobbly toilet), but the bolts still fit and adhere to it.
2: the clostet flange was attached to the bend (I think that is what it is called) or waste pipe but not attached to the floor. There were no bolts or glue holding the flange in place, so if I just replaced the busted bolts the toilet could still rock with the little travel the waste pipe moves.

All the pieces are either cast iron or lead (probably lead since it is an older house and the flange can be banged back into shape with a hammer). Around the flange (not under) is tile, under that I have no idea, I guess wood since there is a basement under it but I guess it could also be concrete over wood.

I got a replacement flange (just the top piece to hold the bolts) but the problem is I cannot screw it down into anything since there is a gap. I don't think I can fit concrete in between the old flange and the gap.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Your flange should be screwed into the floor with 3-4 screws that can pass through the tile and well into the sub floor. If the tile is ceramic you might have to use a drill to make a hole. Standard masonary bits won't cut ceramic well so you may need to buy a glass/ceramic bit for about $4.

Cast iron closet rings don't screw to the slab. They are "squeezed" to the pipe with 3 s.s. bolts supplied with the ring. Use ratchet set to attach it otherwise the ring will move. Install wax ring, toilet brass bolts and toilet.

I think this is a wooden floor with a basement below.
