    Leasing laws in Texas.
My husband is being transferred to another state. I was wondering if there was some way to cancel our lease and get our deposit back. I not what will happen if we just leave the lease all together. What is the worse thing that could happen to us? Please Help!!

No you can not just cancell a lease you can ask the landlord to let you out, but you will be obligated to pay the lease until they rent that unit out.

Well, I agree with Fr. Chuck.

First of all, if he's being transferred is he not getting any sort of relocation package? Most employers know that it's going to cost people to break leases, etc. His employer should be stepping up to help out.

Second, unless your lease specifically allows it, job transfers (other than military) are not grounds for breaking the lease.

Have you talked to them about the situation to see what your options are? You could offer them a buy out. Depending on the rental market and the property it could be anywhere from a month's rent to a few months rent. Just make sure that if they agree to some sort of termination or buy out that you get it in writing.
