Can I install a floating wood floor over linoleum? It is the click system, from Home and décor, tong and grove with aluminium clamps. I am trying to use a lot off clamps. It is a square room about 250 sq/ft. Any tips?

Yes you can float a floor over the linoleum but tell me more about the clamps. Is this a glued floor or does it just snap together?

They are aluminium clamps that fit in to grooves.

I agree that you can use a floating floor over linoleum. What is the condition of the linoleum, please? I ask this because if you are putting the wood floor over linoleum that might be damaged, then you might need to use a floating sub-floor beneath your top floor.

The linoleum is in very good condition, it is thin and very well glued, smooth and most off all it is very well levelled. I have done 3/4 when I walk over the floor it squeaks and it moves. Is that normal?

Are you sure that you have done the clamping correctly? Also, I think that it would help those here who have installed click-type flooring if you would name the brand that it is.
It is my understanding that click flooring is meant to be used without glue,
But I'm not absolutely sure about that.

It would also be helpful if you would answer ballengerb1's question as to
whether it is a glued floor or does it just snap together?

I have little doubt that there is a least one of the members who normally
Frequents the home repair/maintenance/construction type boards here, who
Has had experience installing the particular brand that you are.

The brand is the house brand from Home and décor. The hardwood is tong and groove.

The term tongue and grove is not associated with snap together flooring so I am starting to wonder if we went down the wrong pth. How thick is the material, about 5/8"?? This may be full thickness hardwood flooring, I am not sure yet. "clamps that fit in to grooves" the only metal I have seen with flooring is a full flooring nail driven into a sub floor. Any chance of a picture of your material or a drawing of its thickness?
