Yesterday, meowing outside my firescape was a kitten. I think he's at least 6 months old and have no idea how he got there or where he came from but I fell in love with him at first sight. I brought him inside and he seemed right at home. After a hour he was running around, playing with toys and purred non stop every time I came near or touched him. It seem's like he's used to being inside of a home. But when my two other kittens come near him he starts hissing and growling and tries to smack them. My two other kittens are 10 months and much bigger. They back away when he starts growling but continue to follow him around the apt. At first I thought it was because the new kitten was scared of my two other cats but when my cats try to go eat or use the litter box or come over to me so I can pet them the kitten runs up to them and starts growling like "get away! this is my apt now!". What should I do? Should I give the kitten a trial period and see if he warms up to my other cats? Do you think the kitten was spoiled by his last owners and just doesn't like to share? Is it a dominating thing because they are all boy cats? Or should I give the kitten the away??

Well they don't like him, cause they aren't used to his smell.

I have 3 cats, Oscar (Oldest), Kashii (Oscars Brother Different Litter) and Cole who I saved from an abusive home.

Cole is the odd man out, they constantly pick on him. Always chasing him down, and sometimes not allowing him to use the litter box. I know you might not like this idea, but it works for me. We have a fenced in back yard, and we started putting cole outside. Well, he goes willingly. He just kind of chills with the dog. We let him in to eat, but he doesn't leave the yard. It cuts down on their fighting... Im not saying its right for you. But it sure helped with the litter box problem.

Oscar loves being outside also.. they are weird.. they just chill and don't leave the yard. Lazy fat cats! Lol

Its sad cole has to be outside all the time.. cause he is funny. He enjoys flushing the toilet for fun.

Anyway, just give it time. They need to get used to the scent. Maybe you need two litter boxes. I know they fill up quick anyway.

First, it's never a good idea to just let a new cat roam freely in a house with established cats. It tends to cause territorial disputes, as the resident cat's instinct is to chase out any intruders. Also, you have no idea if the new kitten has any diseases that he may be passing along to your other cats.

And finally... you don't know that this kitten doesn't already have a home somewhere. So, for now I would isolate him in a room by himself, with food, water, litterbox, and toys, and see if there are any "missing cat" flyers up. You may want to run a "found cat" ad, or put up some flyers yourself. If no owner is found, the other cats should be more used to the newcomer and get along better when you let him out to join the group.

The first thing that I would suggest doing is getting that cat to the vet and having him checked out for any diseases. As has already been mentioned, secondly, I would just give this situation a trial period and see if they work out who and what places are each of there own individually. Could take a number of weeks to maybe several months. The vet would probably know the most about that.

Kittens are new to this world and need to be given a chance to learn how to cope with other kittens or cats.

I definitely agree with finding out if this is someone else's kitty before calling him your own. You could go around and inquiry of neighbors about that.
