    Indiana child abandonment laws
I have a daughter who has abandoned her daughter. Months ago, and we are trying to find out if we can have her charged for her crime?

Did she leave her at the walmart and take off, perhaps left her on the side of the street?

If she left the child with you, no. It may be abandoment in the terms of a child custody case to win custody of the child.

    Hello a:

Nope. As the Padre mentioned, she committed no criminal act if she left her daughter with a caregiver, like you.

If YOU have your granddaughter, you can file for custody and child support. If she doesn't pay, the state will. If she ever works, the state will deduct child support from her income...

Besides, filing criminal charges against your daughter isn't a great thing to do.
