Are there any yellow marks in device mgr?

Have you gone to sound and Audio Devices in control panel and make sure that sound is not muted?

Double click on speaker next to clock and make sure master volume and wave is not muted also

After re-reading your post, do you have question marks next to your devices?

Was this the original disk that came with PC or just a copy of windows that you had?

Is it a brand name computer, if so, what model?

Once you uninstall your sound driver then again install. I am asking what about vga?

Is it OK? If OK no problem about sound driver because it will be support.

Most of the driver you can download from manufacturer's Web site.

Use your board model number and brand to search for the drivers online. They are always normally online.

The driver can be found HERE:

    PC Tel CMI8738/PCI-SX Driver Summary

When you click that link, you will most likely have to:
    • go through the lengthy "join for free" process...just do it.
    • Don't buy anything, skip all the ads, verify your email address to activate your own account
    • then come back here and click the link above AGAIN
    • Click the link under FILENAME
    • Don't buy anything! (these guys are just trying to make a living...)
    • Enter the download verification 3-digit code
    • Click on Download Destination - Your hard drive
    • Click on Verify, pick destination, then click Download button

If all of that is too hard, click on my name and PM your email address, I'll email it to you, it's 1.4 MB else I would just post it here for you.
