I have read the Q/A's on the site, but can't find an answer to this one.

First, I have a Delta faucet. It looks like Delta Faucet T13422-SOS on the www.deltafaucet.com website. (There are a few more that look like this, but it has the diverter plug on the spout.) The difference is that the one knob controlling the water/water flow has a different marking.

My bathtub spout still runs a lot of water when I try to take a shower, very little pressure gets to it. I want to replace the spout, because I know that the diverter is what is the problem.

I bought a Universal tub spout. This has the little part 'cut out' at the end of the spout (next to the wall) where you can screw/unscrew the spout in. However, my current faucet doesn't have that, there is no where in the faucet that I can unscrew it.

Any ideas on how I can replace the spout?

Hi Vic,

Why would you hassle a universal spout when Delta uses a slip on spout, (see image) with your faucet? What you have is a copper pipe sticking out the wall right? No threads on the end of that pipe right? Now you can hassle with the spout you have or you can go back and return it for the correct one, called a "slip on spout". This spout has a Allen Head Set Screw that tightens a "O" ring to secure the spout and make it water tight. Sorry about the image problems. Good luck, Tom

From the diagram you showed me, the spout that looks like mine is the 1/2" female pipe, the one on the left.

I haven't been able to get the spout off the wall so I don't know if I have a copper pipe or not. When you say slip on, do you mean I just pull until the spout comes off? If I pull at it, it feels like the knob controlling the water also appears to pull. Is this correct? Is it OK to just pull on it then?

Also the slip on spout you spoke of, I would need an Allen head screwdriver I guess, but where is the O ring at? Do I need to buy one of those also or do they come with the spout?

Hi Vic,
The Delta part number you gave me gives me a "slip on spout". Before we go any farther lets's nail down exactly what type spout that you have. A slip on spout has a small square hole in the back bottom that conceals a Allen Head Set Screw, (see image of a slip on spout without a diverter knob) Does your spout have a square hole at the back bottom? If it does you will need a Allen Head Wrench to remove it. If not then you have a threaded spout that simply unscrews. If you have to purchase a slip on diverter spout the Allen Head wrench and "O" ring comes with it. Which spout do you have? We can't continue until we know for sure. Regards, tom

The one I have has a diverter in the spout, at the end farthest away from the wall, above where the water comes out. The one shown above doesn't.

I don't have a square hole at the back bottom.

What I don't understand is how I "have a threaded spout that simply unscrews" when there are no screws or any area that I could get to a screw visible on the spout. I only see 2 screws on the sides of the knob that controls hot/cold/getting water and that is separate from the spout. Sorry for the confusion.

I know the one shown isn't a diverter spout but the slip on feature's the same in both. No matter. You have a threaded spout,(see image) to remove simply put a wrench on the spout and unscrew it counterclockwise. Sorry about the confusion. You through me off with the Delta part number.
Nscrewthe old spout and, since you already have it , follow the directions on the universal spout that you have. Good luck and good night. I'm shutting down and kicking back. Tom
