    Sex with a minor
My daughter is 17 years old and the boy she is seeing just turned 20 in May. She told me two weeks ago she is pregnant. Every since she found out he is harassing her calling her, fighting with her stating he is going to take the baby from her. Can I press charges against him for having sex with a minor? Can that be done even after she turns 18 next month? Please help. She is not eating from being stressed out.

Press charges NOW. Why wait a month? He didn't have sex with her next month, she was a minor when this happened, and I'm sure he knew it. Press charges and then get a restraining order against him for yourself and your daughter. She may need counseling, I would definitely suggest family and individual counseling. Also parenting classes!

It would depend on your State's laws on sexual behaviour by persons at a cetain age.
Some states, I would imagine, have laws governing age of consent to be 16; others 21 maybe.

Find out by going directly into your State's website... for example New York.gov... laws governing consent.

Ask at a free legal clinic offered by your city, county, state. Don't wait until it might be too late. Get your daughter some help, it sounds like she can use it.

Most places have 16 as the age of consent. But alarge enough gap in age might still make it stautory rape. I would go to your local prosector's office and report it and see what they say,
