    Dying my hair Black
Hi, I'm 17, a month ago I dyed my hair black, using Loreal Paris' Starry Night Black. The dye looked a blue black when it was first on my head, but ever since I took showers, it has been washing out like crazy. A friend of mine who has dyed her hair black told me that I should be using a brownish tinge of colour if I want the black to stay in, because my natural colour is dark brown, and if I used a more darker brown then she said it would go black enough. Now here come my 2 questions:

    1. Is my friend right? Or should I switch to a different brand of colour? Such as Garnier? I heard Garnier's colour sticks better.

    2. Why is the dye washing out so fast for me? I am using the conditioner that came with it, and I am not taking too many showers. What can I do to keep the colour in?

    THANKS A BUNCH! :)

You need to read the box and check what type of dye your using.

How often should you color your hair? - by Laurel Garrett - Helium

Go to this site, they explain the different types of dye.

If your hair is really really healthy then it is most likely that since that is so, the cuticle has not been entirely opened and it will be difficult to lock in the color. It might also be that you are using a semi-permanent hair dye. If you want to make your hair color more "stickable" then the morning of the day you intend on dying your hair, shampoo vigirously and do not use any products. Use hot water when washing it out to wash off the natural oils your hair produces.

    Hope I helped.
