Dvd drive not working.tryed to go into propertys and re install and on the auto search it says.windows has determend the software is up to date.
When I do this manually it says; driver may be corupted or missing; + windows found driver software for your device but encountered a prob lem when trying to install it. Where do I go from here?

What version windows?

Couple of things to consider

- click on start, settings, control panel, system icon, hardware tab, device mgr?
Are there any yellow marks next to cd/dvd drives?
If so, right click on problem driver and choose uninstall and say OK
Close all windows and restart PC

Windows will find cd rom and install drivers for it
Check to see if cd drive is working now

-if that does not help, need to do a system restore to the time before you defrag the drive
Click start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore
Pick a date before you had defraged drive and click next and let the PC do a system restore
You should be OK
