    What contraception to use?
I will be having a 2 week long getaway with my BF, in a month. I am thinking of taking contraception but just confused what to use and I heard that it has some side effects.I have no problem of taking pills, I won't forget it. Im just "scared" with the side effects. My period is regular and this will be my first time to use. What's the best contraception to use? What should I expect?

If you're so worried about side efects, first thing is to talk to your Dr and have him/her fully inform you on the dif contraceptive pills and all the side efects. But not to denegrate faith in your boyfriend, but I suggest that no matter whether you choose a pill, in IUD or foam (they still have that?) I'd use condoms too.

Is it true that pills take effect after only a month of consistent taking?

I don't know if it's only a month, but they usually do take a while - not just a few days or week. Tho it's been a while since I've taken it. The new ones might be a bit quicker. Again, a question for Dr.

Birth control pills take 10 days to take effect, so it's best to still use another form of contraceptive while on the pill.

Granted, I think it's a great idea to still use condoms while being on the pill to lower the risk of STDs and to protect yourself further from unwanted pregnancies.
