Is it possible you've hit a shortcut key on your laptop that mutes your PC? Laptop keyboards are filled with 2 functions on their keys so it's quite easy to accidentally hold down the wrong button and do something.

How would I know which shortcut Key? I am not feeling competent now, -is it a matter of hitting each one to find out? Thanks

There should be keys on your machine that have a speaker like icon. Look for them. Or look in your manual for info on controlling sound.

You are right. I had the same problem. My keyboards volum low button was pressed by mistake I guess. After I press the Voulme UP button, I can hear speaker sound.

    Thanks
