    Format sony vaio
I'm planning to format my drive C:

Is there a special way of formatting this sony vaio? Or there is no difference in other computers?

My friend said that I have a two hard drive.. 1 for drive c and 1 for d.. he said that I don't have to create a partition.. how can I format my drive c without creating a partition.. actually, this is my first time to format my computer.. that's why I'm nervous.. please help.. thanks!

Grab your recovery disc and boot to that.
This will guide you through the whole rebuild process.

If you don't have a CD how do you intend on reinstalling Windows ?

Seriously, without the recovery CD don't even THINK about doing this... you're walking into a nightmate that I have first-hand experience of!

If it's one of the better Sony VAIOs then you will indeed have 2 hard drives, but they are set up in a RAID configuration. So if you format one, you effectively wreck them both. If you do it wrong at all, you end up with a very expensive paperweight!

Can you still boot it up? If so you can make recovery DVDs for it from Windows.

If not, then you can usually buy recovery DVDs online, at a cost of course!

Just out of interest, what model is it and did you buy it brand new?

Sony vaio PCV RZ24G. This is a gift of my brother in law. But he don't give any cd for this PC..

I thought that I can format my drive c: without those recovery cds.. I thought I can use my windows xp professional to reinstall windows.. now what I'm going to do?

Have you started this process already then?

What exactly have you done and why are you doing it?

Get one of your friends to let you use their windows disk. There is no other way, besides that. There might be illegal windows xp downloads but I wouldn't recommend them.
