You MUST have an e-mail catcher. This can be a newsletter, membership log-in or forum. A way for you as a web admin to mail them again. Offer a free course or advice which they have to sign up for.

I agree with moderator, though depends on the niche, text links work best for me. Google adsense can work wonders if you provide fresh content... Yes content is still king.

To get higher ranks in searchs, you need to link to more popular sites in that category. Try to set up a link exchange with some of the more popular sites that hae the same theme, t would helo you both out by providing publicity and improving ranking in search engines.

Also you should submit to a press release service (like us) and enter your site in as many directories as possible, see my sig.

But of course you should also send your release to as many other services as possible.

Various ways. Banner/ad exchanges are a good way. Google Adwords for example - https://adwords.google.com/select/. Submitting your site to various search engines also helps.

Content. You can have the prettiest site in the world but if there is nothing interesting on the site, nobody is going to stay. Try and get a "community" going on your site - e.g. a forum. If people feel they are a part of something, they will come back.

Something like Adwords would be your best bet. Many of the banner advertisings need a minimum amount of hits a month (thousands).
