    Garnishment without knowledge.
A credit card company won a default judgement against me in 2007. My paycheck was recently garnished, without my knowledge. Is this legal, or do they have to notifiy you in writing or serve you with garnishment papers before they garnish your check? If anyone can please advise thanks.

If they won the judgement then you have to pay, I don't think they have to notify you to start garnishing your wages. That's just a guess though, sorry.

There are some places for example TN where you are suppose to be notified prior to the garnishment, but it does not make the garnishment invalid if they don't. But normally no once they have a judgement they may garnish our wages, and attach your bank account without further legal notice
