How to clean an ignition electrode on a stove
Hi! I have a Hotpoint gas stove that is @ 9 months old. It has a sealed burner top. This evening I couldn't get the back simmer burner to light. It made a clicking sound when I turned the knob to "light" and I could manually light it with a lighter, but it would not light itself. I took of the burner cap and burner and cleaned both. I made sure that the hole on the burner was not blocked. I replaced them but it still would not light itself. I noticed that the ignition electrode has what looks like some baked on grease on it (probably from a over spill that wasn't cleaned up). This may be causing the problem. Can I safely clean this electrode? If so, what should I use? Would it be better to call a repair man?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Dorothy :)

If your stove is under warranty, then it would be best to call the service centre before you try yourself.

Thank you for the quick reply! Yes, I did schedule an appointment for Friday, July 25. I think it would be the safest bet at this point.
