    Parental Rights
If my boyfriend gives up his parental rights to his child from a prevous relationship in Minnesota, does he still have to pay child support?

How does he give up his parental rights?

He could still be forced to pay child support, yes. Has he taken a DNA test to be sure that he is the father? If not, I would suggest that first.

Of course as his girlfriend, I am sure you would not want to be with a man who cares so little about his children he will just desert them.

But first unless the other parent has a new partner to adopt, giving up parent rights is almost impossible to start with, but even if he can, only if someone adopts does it stop the child support, he will still have to pay child support, that is not a right that is a obligation
