    Sms on occurrence of any special events
    I am working in tuticorin thermal power station .
    Please help me to complete the project work.
    We bought 3 nos yogokawa dx 2020 chartless recorders ,I connected these three in the hub switch and access from one server PC . I want give sms to our officials , if any event happened where the alarm set points are available in chartless recorder . By http and ftp the PC has been connected .

    Shall we connect a gps modem and can I simulate/ send sms to others (where we have stored the defined nos ) for specified event .
    Please help me in this regards .

    You can send messages to a cellular phone via an SMTP server. If you do not have access to a SMTP server, then the devices will require Internet access so that they can use an upstream SMTP server such as an ISP. The device configuration would require the ability to supply authentication for this type of server since they may not allow anonymous SMTP.

    The type of access you are talking about - ftp and http - is strictly for a device management console. This has nothing to do with the messaging capabilities.

    You will need to know the domain name for your provider. Typically, messaging to a cell phone via SMTP is sent in the following format: [email protected]in

    Example (for AT&T wireless phone): [email protected]
