I am seeing this guy and his ex wife does not like me anyway my dad was taken to the hospital and the unit clerk was my boyfriends ex sister in law the next morning his ex wife was texting us and saying she knew where we were at so early in the morning is that a hippa violation her sister did I suspect his ex sister in law called her sister and said we were there what do I do then she proceeded to threatened me saying I would need a police escort

Did she give any of the medical information ? Next you suspect, you will have to prove she provided protected information As for the threats, you need to report them to the police

Actually, I don't think that this is a HIPAA violation. It's no different than if your boyfriend's ex-sister-in-law saw you at a restaurant and called up the ex-wife to tell her where you were. The fact that it just happened to be at a hospital doesn't make your being there privileged information, especially since you weren't the patient.
