97 Honda civic LX not getting fuel after engine change
I just put a new engine in my 1997 Honda civic LX. 1.6 SOHC D16Y7. Everything is back together and now we are not getting any fuel. I cannot here the pump run when the key is turned on... any IDEAS??

    Thanks Bill

Problem likely involves ACG (ALT) (S) fuse, main relay, or ECM. Does the CEL come on for 2 seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? If that's not the same engine, as before, there may be ECM or harness incompatibility.

No the CEL light does not come on. The engine is the same model (D16Y7) supposedly from the same year 97 Civic LX.

. Test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter:

Be thorough or you will end up wasting a lot of time and money.

. Perform tests in Sections A and B below:

I guess one thing I forgot to tell you is that it does seem to be getting fire. I quick shot of starting fluid and it wants to run... just no fuel..

Does the CEL initially come on and then go off?

If it doesn't run on starting fluid, the problem is likely electrical-related.

Ok first off the CEL light DOES NOT come on at all. I cannot find the ACG (ALT) (S) fuse in the panel under that dash. I did however find the Alternator (SP SENSOR) fuse. Is this even close? It will run with the starter fluid so I am getting spark, just no fuel

I appologize for being a pain, but this thing is killing me. Thank you for hanging in there with me.

. Check all under-hood and under-dash fuses with a test light or multimeter. Then, you know all of the fuses are good. Be very thorough.

. Clean main ECM ground on the thermostat housing--look for a 3-wire brass connector.

. Perform K-Test on the ECM.
