    Toilet tank Leak
I have a Kohler Rialto toilet #K3402. The float valve threaded connection that goes through the toilet and ties to water line is leaking. I changed the tank gasket and even the braided hose. It is still leaking. The only thing I'm thinking is I overtightened the connection. Could that have caused the gasket to still leak? I'm reasonable handy in plumbing and this repair is such a non event I'm actually quite PO'ed that I can't fix this situation. I can go get another gasket and even another braided hose and try again with just hand tightening but before I do this is there some other cause that I just can't think of. I didn't want to purchase a new entire float valve kit #84499 for $90.00 if it's just the tightening of the nut that is the problem. Please advise if there is something else wrong that causes the connection to still leak.

    Thanks,

    John

    Hey John,
It sounds like you might have started the threads a little crossed wich is easy to do when the threads are plastic. Go back and see if you can start the nut correctly. If the nut starts right it will continue to tighten. Good ;uck, Tom

I hope your tank is not cracked, close the angle valve to the flush the toilet disconnect the braided hose at in let to the tank, remove the nut from the ballcock have a container to catch the remaining water in the tank, remove the nut from the ballcock, remove the ballcock, check the hole area where the ballcock goes for cracks use a flush light, if no crack is found, check the gasket for any distortion if it looks OK install it, try to tighten the nut by hand and check for leaks, see the pictures which type is yours, Good luck.
