    Slimy Water
    Hi there!

Does anyone know what I can do about my home's slimy water?

We have a salt water tank, but we're out of salt right now. I wanted to see if that would take the slimy-ness out of the water, but it hasn't seemed to help.

When you wash your hands or your face the water feels like there is slimy soap in it! Help! It doesn't feel clean.

Is there anything I can do to make the water less slimy?

    Thank you!

Sounds like you get your water from a well and if so the water is probably soft there for it will have that feeling. You just need to replace the chemicals that harden the water or install a new water hardening system.

If the softness is not normal for the well and there is a green or orange tint to it then you need to put chlorine tablets into the well to kill the algie. Do not drink the water until the smell of chloring is gone and the water is clear. This could take a month of 2 - 3 treatments.

Hmm... we don't get our water from a well. It's just city water. My fiancé thinks it could be the salt water tablets we use. I didn't know if there was something we could put in the salt water tank to clean out the pipes maybe??

    Thank you!

jensallen is correct. Your water is soft that's why it feels slimey. If your soap is lathering a lot, that is soft water. If the hand soap is not lathering quickly, then hard water.

I suggest you go to the place where you buy your salt tablets and ask them if they have an additive. But quite frankly I think its just the soft water you are not used to.
