My pug has had a stroke
H can someone tell me how long it takes for a dog to recover from a stroke, he has use of his limbs, he has lost his bark and picks at his food. The only sign of a stroke was unusual behavior and walking funny. He has been put on half an asprin by the vet and another tablet twice a day.

Recovering from a stroke for dog or human is a matter of time and can't be predicted in days or weeks. What you should do is start some form of therapy of play so that he recovers happily and maintains his trust in you. I am glad the vet put him on a form of blood thinner, which is the aspirin but would be interested to know what the tablet is.

Hi, Heather, I am familiar with most drugs vets use but just noticed you are in northern Ireland, so what it is called there is probably different then what I am used to seeing. All I can say is trust your vet and the aspirin should do a lot of good by thinning the blood therefore preventing more strokes, but we all should expect them in our pets too. Good luck and stay in touch, let us know how you are doing with your little friend.
