I'm getting nothing but a dribble on hot and cold, tub or shower settings. Was fine until today. Any way to tell if it is the valve or seat? There's nothing else to replace, right?
Thanks

It is rare for both hot and cold to plug at the same time. Normally I'd say remove the shower head and check for debris but you say the tub spout is dribbling too. I think you need to close your main and remove the cartridge. Check for debris. Cover the opening with a towel and have a 2nd person turn the main on and off to blow out debris and confirm good flow.
Hi all:
Like Bob said, pretty rare for both hot and cold to go down like this with a symmons temptrol S962 unit (tub&shower unit).
It certainly could be that the cartridge got clogged up... but it could also be that the diverter spindle itself has gone bottom up and is now stripped (see picture below). Here, if diverter stuck in the middle between tub and shower would only get a dribble out of tub and maybe out of shower, too!
If this is the case, you will need a 5/16" allen wrench to remove the DIVERTER RETAINER and a 5/16" lag bolt/screw to remove the DIVERTER SPINDLE. It could also be that you simply need to replace the diverter handle itself... available at all home supply stores.
Anyway, easiest thing is to shut the hot and cold water to the valve (may need to shut the cold water at the water meter to shut all water to tub/shower valve) and then do what Ballenger recommended above. If that is unsuccessful, then off to home supply to purchase a new cartridge a new diverter spindle and 5/16" tools I mentioned above and then remove the spindle and replace the cartridge (cheap enough parts to do both at same time).
Be clear here that removing the spindle involves screwing the lag bolt into the diverter and then YANKING it out forcefully (hold valve body against yourself when pulling)... then will need to silicone GREASE the oring of new spindle to allow smooth installation.
Anyway... I am betting on the cartridge at this point, but now you are aware that it could also be the diverter...
Let us know if any more questions before beginning... otherwise, good luck, let us know how you make out... ok?
