husband on permanet disability because of 2x cancer
Hello everyone. Please I need some help to a few questions that have come up into our lives. First let me say, my husband has worked for over 30 years in the same job and has just started to receive permanet disabilty because he has cancer for the second time in 4years. My question is my husband Dave just started to receive ss disabilty. And from what I understand that it is not taxable if you have a combined income of less than 34,000 a year.. I inherited about 30,000 when my father passed away does that have to be added to AGI. And is that taxable... Do I pay taxes on the complete 90,000 because it was ITF with my name only. But I distributed between 2 brothers and myself... please advise... thank you in advance...

    1. In the U.S. there is no tax on inheritances. So $30,000 which you received as inheritances is not taxable and you do not even report it on your tax return. Read

    2. A part of SS disability payment may be taxable if half of disability income plus other income exceed a limit.

Agree with MukatA; the inheritance is NOT subject to either federal OR state income taxes.
