Security Deposit On Apartment - Indiana
Hi, My son was asked to put a security deposit on an apartment on July 11th, he has not seen the apartment and the complex said it would be available in August. He did not sign a lease nor get a key. He is thinking of moving out of state and will not need the apartment. Will he be able to get his security deposit back since he has not moved in and the apartment complex still advertises for apartments for rent? Thanks, Paulme1

Quite honestly, he should not give them a security deposit without signing a lease or getting a key. But I don't understand really what is going on? Why are you asking if you say he is moving out of state and will not need the apartment? Don't assume he will be able to get his security deposit back without a hassle.

I guess what they want is his assurance that he will take the apartment.

If he is not sure what he is doing then he will have to look again for accommodation.
