    Deduction mistake

I did not realize I could take my business mileage off my taxes last year. Can I redo my taxes for the previous year and include my mileage or do I have to live with the mistake?

I assume you are filing US taxes by your location. Here in Canada you could go back and file an amendment to a previous tax return.

Here in US, you can do the same. There is an amendment form you must fill out. Search Google for tax amendment form. It should give you 1040x and other relevant info.

Both replies are accurate. File Form 1040X and a new Schedule C (if you are a contractor or self-employed) or Form 2106 and Schedule A (if you are an employee)to claim that mileage.
