Seating divorced parents at the wedding ceremony
My son is getting married in August. His dad and I have been divorced since he was 2. My husband and I married when he was 6. His Dad and his wife will be coming to the wedding. They live out of town. How should we be seated at the wedding? Should he and his wife sit behind us or beside us? My husband is not real comfortable in his company but realizes it is my son's wedding and he loves him dearly.
    Thanks,
    Mother of the groom

I think you can all be civil to one another for this one day, I hope. If you can sit next to each other, sit on opposite ends of the first row.

Since you are all joining together in support of the couple who are getting married, in my opinion, sitting side by side in the same row line would be most appropriate. As mentioned above, opposite ends of the first row might be a good idea. I would like to add that also sitting toward the center aisle would also be best.
