    I-797A and F-2 Visa
    Hi, I have a question.
My wife has been approved for F-2 status (from F-1). She has the I-797A form. She plans to leave the U.S. temporarily, we're afraid she might be denied her F-2 visa in her country even with I-797A on hand when she needs to come back to the U.S.

Question: Can she apply for her visa while she's here in Arkansas, USA.

    Thank you

F-2 is similar to F-1, if you change the status while you're in US, when you leave US, even for a short period of time, you need to apply for a visa at the consulate.

When you change status while in US, you have legitimately extended d/s (duration of stay), it does not mean you have a visa.

Thank you for the answer lawanwadee.

I guess she can't apply for her visa in the U.S, can she?

Then what is needed too get a visa in her country? Is it just I-797A? And can she be denied her visa?

    Thanks again
