    Shower mixing valve leak
I am buying a home and during the inspection of the bathroom we noticed that water pours out of the mixing valve for the shower. I was wondering if this requires replacement of the mixing valve or can be repaired in some other way? Can this be done by a do it yourselfer with no plumbing experience. I plan on replacing the cover, tub spout and showerhead at the same time. Would appreciate any input

Before we can help we need the brand name of the valve. One handle or two knobs? How old is it? Regards, Tom

It is a one handle knob, it is probably quite old. I will have to get back with the rest of the info after I close on 8/18
