    Is my friend avoiding me?
I met a girl last week. She seemed extremely intelligent and had a great personality. She was also really selfless. She spent 3 hours picking out clothes for me. We were suppoesd to meet today, she called me yesterday and said that she couldn't make it because she had extended obligations at work. I reminded her that we were meeting on Thursday and not wednsday, and today she goes online and tells me that she is having pain during her period and wants to cancel plans. What are the odds that something would happen twice in one week? Maybe I wasn't a good enough friend for her and she doesn't feel like hanging out with me? I've only met her once before.

Ok hun.. sorry to be harsh, but you two are acquaintances as far as I know.. it takes time to get to know people and become friends.. you just met last week.. she has no obligation to you whatsoever.. why are you putting so much concern to this?

If she doesn't want to hang out with you, well then she doesn't, end of story and move on.. life is too short to be worrying about this stuff.. OK?

I agree with you on that... however, about 95% of the people I talk to are not real friends and I think this is true for most people.

It is true 993099142! Americans tend to keep things to themselves and just being friendly to others. Sometimes if you telling others too much about yourself, or opening up too early will hurt the existing relationship if you know what I mean.

Cut her some slack. Things happen. I have my busy days or weeks where it gets very hectic. If she keeps canceling plans in the future then you may want to raise the issue. But for now I'd let it go.
