    Format of c partition
    I made partition of harddisk after os from disk management, but system got dead with error grub 1.5 error 17, I install o.s. window XP again creating new partion E to recorver data from c and formet E and install os. But lateron I tried lot to formet the partion C to utilized all space of that partition but the error shows windows was unable to formet the partition. Can I delete the partition in any other way and keep the os on E drive. Suggest me please.

    If you had GRUB then you must have had another OS installed. XP likes to be on the C:. I assume since you're trying to now format C: that you recovered your data. I would wipe the whole physical drive making sure it was one big partition. Install XP on the C: then install the other OS after XP is up and running. If it's Linux distro most will do the partitioning for you.
