    Mom is giving baby away
I am deployed to Iraq and the mother of my 3 day old baby that I have not even seen gave my baby to some family to raise because she does not want the baby and is lying to the courts that she wants and has custody when in fact she had the baby, named it and then gave it away and continues to lye about its whereabouts. I have retained a lawyer and I want my baby, I am 23 and my parents are backing me 100%. The family she gave the baby to have alcohol and drug problems, no children of their own and now have my baby. I am waiting to hear back from my lawyer but he won't be back in town for 6 days. Any ideas?. I thought about turning her into social services and then I could prove she is not taking care of the baby and it is not living with her.

Without your approval she can not let anyone adopt the baby legally, since you don't have any custody agreement at this point, she can allow another person to "watch" or baby sit the baby. But if there is a danger to the child, children's services need to be called, and if in danger woulld, but if you can wait to actually talk to the attorney, see if the office can get him forwarded or some advice short term or another lawyer to consult. But you want to do this by the book, so get the attorneys working ASAP. ** thank you for serving our nation and I am sorry this is happening to you

Absolutely wait for your attorney, or call his office and see if someone else can give you answers as to what you could be doing right now to get the ball rolling.

Is there a military counsel that can help you with this?

Will the biological mother talk with you? Maybe she would allow you to take over. Also, though, as a separate issue as in one does not follow the other, that baby needs to be taken care of. Do what you know you should given the information you have about the temporary "parents" regarding calling social services, etc.

Thanks for serving and good luck.

This was my first time on line with a question and I just want to say thanks for the support and good advise. I did hear from another attorney today who is associated with mine and they are setting up appointments for me and I can come back for the dna test. Thanks again, I needed someone to talk to and with a click of the mouse you were there, I really appreciated the help.

I hope everything works out well for you. I hope, too, that you come back when it's all resolved and let us know what happened.

I wish you the best of luck--sounds like you're going to be a great dad.

    Thanks for serving!
