    Sewage odor in house
We have had a sewage odor in our house for some time. It comes and goes, but generally, it is very awful! It smells like a sewer, but it seems to be worst in the family room, which has a cement slab under the carpet.
In trying to detect the source we have had a bug man (no dead rodents), replaced the carpet, had the vents cleaned out, and had rotor rooter in to clean the pipes, nothing has worked, and we've spend a lot of money. WE need help!
    Thanks,

You could possibly have water that has permeated the slab and caused mildew. Talk to a contractor and ask what can be done to test for mold.

Is there a bathroom on the other side of the family room? Exactly where's the smell the strongest? Did you see any moisture on the slab when you sreplaced the carpet? Do you have any more details you can give us? Cheers, Tom

I didn't see the slab when we replaced the carpet, so can't tell you, but sometimes (when I'm on the floor) it really smells bad. Yes, there is a bathroom on the other side of the famly room. The smell generally is the worst in the family room but at times it's bad throughout the entire down stairs.
    Thanks for the help!!

And that's where I'd start. You may have a ruptured wax seal in the toilet allowing sewer gas to enter your home. I would pull and reset the toilet using a new wax seal. Good luck, Tom
