Hybrid Heat Pump with Gas back up
I am looking to replace my current system with one of these new systems. I live in CT so it would have to be propane as the gas. I was wondering what anyone knows about these heat pump gas systems. The manufacturers are claiming quite a bit of cost savings.. and I know heat pumps have come a long way. I have looked at systems from Carrier, Goodman, American Standard. Does anyone have any thoughts on these brands. Thanks for the help.

They have been around for years but are now just getting popular. With gas prices going up and up it would be a wise discission to get the dual fuel system. I would contact a local HVAC company for a ON SITE inspection of your system now and then get there recommendations for the new system.

The gas furnace and heat pump never run at the same time. They are not programed that way. The newer thermostats or a fossil fuel kit takes care of that concern. I have not heard of this problem for over 25 years.
