    It might have helped if you explained what you want to filter. However, assuming you are trying to block porn or similar objectionable sites, I have to say there is no good software free or commercial. Titles like CyberPatrol and Net Nanny are only 50-75% effective.

    In my opinion they only workable filter is supervision.

    I agree with the answer before this one.
    If you are concerned with filtering porn, spam, etc, then the best overall solution is supervision of whoever is using the computer. True, can't be there all the time!
    If you are concerned with Spyware/Advertising programs getting into the computer, then please post back for some excellent suggestions.
