    Digital Recorder Boxes
With the coupons from the govt, I bought mine at Walmart. I hooked it up and nothing happened, shouldn't I be able to use it now; and not wait until 2009.

    Any tips will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

How do you get your TV signals?

You don't need that box, Cable and satellite will not be affected.
In Feb '09, Stations that broadcast into the air, will transmit digital, not analog, then the box will allow you to receive digital signals to older TV's.

As Stratmando said, you don't need the box. Return it to WalMart and if they refuse to give you your money back raise a stink because the person who sold it to you should have asked the question we asked.

I think it's still unknown what the cable companies will do. They may require their own branded for each TV or you may require a TV/Tuner with a QAM (spelling) tuner to get non-encrypted cable channels for non company suppplied converter box locations.

Using govt digital boxes instead of cable
    I had asked this question:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the coupons from the govt, I bought mine at Walmart. I hooked it up and nothing happened, shouldn't I be able to use it now; and not wait until 2009.

    Any tips will be appreciated.

I am grateful for the replies, I guess I should have mentioned, I had bought the digital recorder boxes because we plan to do without cable and just use the boxes. Is that possible to get channels?

    Any suggestions are welcomed

A DVR still needs a video source and a tuner. A DVR is not what the govt is subsidizing. What they are subbsidizing is a converter to convert digital signals to an analog TV.

Are these Tuners for Receiving Digital through the air or Recorders? Did the Government give you a Digital Tuner/Recorder?
You need an antenna for it to work and they need to transmit Digital, If they are still Analog until February, DON'T hook up until then, Hook Antenna to TV directly for now.

Did you buy a Digital Video Recorder or did you purchase an Analog to Digital converter?

They are two very different products. Please put the make and model number into this posting so we can help you.
