    BIOS Headache
Purchased a BIOS Upgrade from eSupport.com and having Problems getting it to Install CORRECTLY! Was Having Issues with My Older P3 eMachines (and NO HELP from eMachines at all)... keep getting a Error that says I NEED to run a "Crisis Diskette" which is NO PLACE in this Machine, & a "Phlash Error" and eMachines is NO Help, Can't even get eSupport to give me Support either; Service AFTER the Sale:( the Reason for the Upgrade=I purchased a Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard & Mouse, and I'm having Problems getting it's software to Run correctly, it was Suggested that I Upgrade my BIOS which I did... I have Removed the CMOS Battery from this Older Trigem Cognac/370 Socket MoBo, allowed it to discharge, and Replaced it with a New One, but still get that SAME "Phlash" Error, What can I do Now?

How did you apply the BIOS upgrade.

I downloaded the eSupport.com .zip Folder, and Installed it to a Diskette (Floppy), and went into the existing BIOS and changed the Boot-up to the Floppy Drive, then did a System Shut-Down, Restart & Boot to the Floppy Diskette. All this was according to the Installation Instructions as provided by eSupport.com
Also, since I did this I also get Blue Screen Errors also: Like; "??? Program Not Found, Skipping AUTOCHK", or "AUTOCHK.exe Not Found"( I went into my Windows and Found Autochk.exe, and attempted to run it but was Told it doesn't run on NTFS File System, Only on Fat32)... eSupport doesn't seem to want to give me a Refund so perhaps I'm just Out the $$$ for that BIOS Upgrade (which came Right from Phoenix-Who originally designed the BIOS in this Machine)... it's all confusing to me.

YOu obviously had done the BIOS update properly, so there should be no problem as far as having your BIOS updated.

Are you still running into other issues? Any errors that come up, if so, which ones.

Do you get the autocheck every time you restart the computer?

Yes I get That Error Every time I do a Restart ( "??? Program Not Found, Skipping AUTOCHK"), and I apparently still have the "PHLASH ERROR", so I don't Know IF that Upgrade Installed or Not, since I don't KNOW what I'm Looking For or At,as far as The BIOS program it "Looks" the SAME as it ever was??

Went to that Link, and Tried that, at least as far as the Knowledge I have to do so...
The Regedit was a bit confusing, so I left it as is, but it looked like that page said, Kind of...
Unfortunately when I did a ReBoot I got the SAME Blue-Screen Error, and CHKNTFS didn't run?
Went to MS Tech and found a "Patch" to get Autocheck.exe to work on NTFS Volumes, but Unfortunately it said I must 1st UnInstall ALL of the SP 1, 2, & 3 on my XP Home Ed. before it would Install, seemed like a Major Hassle, so I opted Not to go through all that... New Ideas?

Yes, I can get "into" the System, I think:rolleyes:
Haven't done a Re-Boot yet, but will let Ya know. I kind of felt like WE got off the subject of my BIOS Upgrade/Install... of course I undertsand that My Computer (and Me 2 for that Matter:p ) are a work in progress... Now Lets Talk Hot Rods or Harleys (Mechanix in general, and Hi-Performance)and I'm right Up there in the Know-How-Too Category, but when it comes to the 'puter stuff I'm still "Green-behind-the-ears"...
Anyway I got another Error Pop-Up Today on Restart( have NO IDEA what Those Symbols mean) and really didn't want to "Stray" too far off this Subject, but did a Print Screen, maybe You can Tell me IF it is Related to what WE are doing, or maybe a Whole Different Issue:confused:

    First thing, get into windows,

1 - download, install and run ccleaner (freeware) and let it do its thing and let it make changes
    Download CCleaner 2.09.600 - FileHippo.com
On the right hand side, click download latest version

2 - start, settings, control panel and go to add/remove programs
Look for anything installed there that you are not aware of and unisntall

3 - click on start, run and type in msconfig and then go to the startup tab (these items start every time you start or restart your computer.)
Look for items that you do not know or you know that probably do not belong there
And take the check mark out of box(s) and click on apply and restart

See if any of this helps and post back exactly what problem is if still exists

Well, as you have done the BIOS update, Are you still getting any type of errors at this point?

Well, How do I KNOW that the Update worked? When I Open BIOS, I don't "see" anything that has Changed from what it was B4 I Tried to Install the eSupport Upgrade... and The ONLY Error I got when I attempted to Boot-Up from That Floppy, was the One that Came From BIOS that stipulated "Phlash Error, Install the Crisis Diskette"(which I don't have).

I downloaded the eSupport.com .zip Folder
Did you extract the files in the .zip folder to the floppy?

"Open Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information. Here you will find System Summary on the left and its contents on the right. Find the BIOS Version option and your BIOS flash version displayed."

Check the date and version # here
