    DVD/VCR combos with NTSC tuners
Does anyone know where I might find a DVD/VCR combo unit with the old NTSC tuner? My old player was an Emerson serial number EWD2203 that recently gave up the ghost. It keeps saying the disc cannot be played, please eject. These are the same discs that I have played at various times on that machine. I purchased a cleaning disc and ran that through without success. I made sure my disc was clean, still no results. I have finally given up and decided to purchase a new machine. To my disappointment, the connections are all different and none of them will fit my coaxial cable. Is there an adapter or something that will fit the end of the coax cable so that it will connect? My satellite provider connected the original and I am afraid that if I disconnect all the wiring, I will not know how to put it all back together. I am a novice when it comes to putting all this together.

Can you post a picture of the connections you have and the brand/model of the new unit? An adapter may not help if the new device is tuner-less.

Google "dvd vcr combo" and look for one with a combo tuner/analog tuner (such as Panasonic DMR-EZ37VS). Then lookup the product's manual on the manufacturer's web site and confirm it has a coax connection or will otherwise connect with what you have. Your local electronics store could probably assist too. You may need to search a bit for a non-recording player only model with a tuner as my quick search seemed to indicate the recordable models favored tuners.

Thank you for your answer to my question. The new machine is a Phillips
Model #MG225MG9. It does not have a tuner, the box says line in (whatever that means). I am returning it tomorrow. I checked with Overstock and found a DVD/VCR recorder combo with NTSC. It is a refurb model Zenith, reasonably priced. Since I am buying it for mostly children's movies and programs, I am comfortable with a refurb. Technology is moving pretty fast and sadly, I am not keeping up. I guess this would be a wake up call for me to start learning more.
